Breitbart News stated that 11 victims were shot, one of which was fatally injured from Friday to Saturday morning at Lightfoot's Chicago.
The next morning, ABC 7 / Chicago Sun-Times reported that the totals for the weekend for victims of shootings was 38. Six victims were dead from their wounds.
One man who was 30 and one aged 31 were discovered dead at four a.m. Sunday, at the residence “in the 1300-block of South Harding Avenue.” Both were shot in the head and were taken to the hospital in the morning, where they were declared dead.
The Sun-Times' Chicago Homicide Database provides that 508 people were killed in Chicago from January 1, 2022 up to September 25, 2022.
The continuing violence in Chicago in 2022 is a result of the fact that 2021 was the most deadly year that the city has ever seen in the last quarter of a century.
The Hill noted it was reported that Chicago police have confirmed that the city saw 797 homicides in the year 2021. In addition, the Associated Press pointed out that the 797 murders were “25 more than were recorded 2020, 299 more than in 2019 and the most since 1996.”
