The Mars candy maker announced on Thursday that it will launch M&M's that are exclusively female for a brief period to pay tribute to women.

The candy wrappers that are themed to women will include feminine characters, Fox News reported Saturday.

“In addition to featuring the three female M&M's on the wrappers, each package in this limited run will only include the corresponding green, brown, and purple candy-coated chocolates,” the publication said.

The M&M's website stated that it was “Flipping the status quo in pop culture” and “$1 from every flipped pack will go to support the next generation of women flipping the script in creative industries.”

The candy will be sold as peanut butter, milk chocolate, and peanut.

The site also stated, “To further our mission of supporting women that are breaking barriers, M&M's is making additional donations, outside of the limited-edition packs, to Female Founder Collective and Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media.”

Social media users expressed their opinions on the news of the moment, with one user writing, “How to go out of business starter pack,” and another wrote, “Ridiculous and woke crap. No more ever for me. Goodbye.”

On January 20, 2022 Mars pledged to change the shape of its M&M's animated characters to become “more inclusive,” Breitbart News said in the year 2022:

“For a long time the green M&M's face was depicted as a sexy female with a powerful voice and white go-go booties. The image has not changed any more, according to the company it was changing its image in its statement.”

This week, the candy maker announced that it would improve the company's “global commitment to creating a world where everyone feels they belong, and society is inclusive” by making changes to its characters used in advertisements in order to create an “more dynamic, progressive world.”

M&M's has recently launched their first woman-friendly peanut “spokes candy,” which is purple in color, according to a Breitbart News article that was published on September 30.
