Animal Rights Activist Files a Police Report After Being Attacked by Rams’ Bobby Wagner on the Field

Alex Taylor, a radical animal rights activist, filed a police report that claims he was assaulted by L.A. Rams player Bobby Wagner. Wagner tackled Taylor when he ran across the field on Monday evening.

Representing the animal rights activist organization Direct Action Everywhere, Taylor and his co-worker Allison Fluty appeared at the Rams-49ers game on Monday to protest by jumping onto the field and hurling pink smoke bombs. Fluty was swiftly detained by security, while Taylor got to the field.

As he ran through the field, evading the security personnel, Rams linebacker Bobby Wagner smashed the protester with a body block, sending Taylor falling to the ground. Wagner and linebacker Takkarist McKinley stepped up to halt the protester, as reported by the New York Post.

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was thrilled by their efforts, saying “I saw Bobby Wagner taking somebody out. I thought that was kind of cool to see.”

The protesters were detained by stadium authorities after which they were cited and then released that night, according to the stadium's officials.

The event was called a “blatant assault” by Direct Action Everywhere and the group has since reported that Taylor submitted a police report on Tuesday with the Santa Clara Police Department. He also says he sustained a burn from his smoke device after being confronted.

There are no charges filed against Wagner and the police have yet to confirm if charges are being considered.

However, Wagner says the event is “behind” him already.

“Can’t really focus on it. I’m more concerned about the security guard that was hurt trying to chase him and the people that was … we don’t know what that is, and you just gotta do what you gotta do,” TMZ reported that Wagner said.

“You just never know,” Wagner added. “You never know, like, people run on the field for no reason sometimes and again, I’m pretty sure it’s gonna keep happening, but you never know what that person got in they pocket, in they hands, whatever. Kind of like what I said after the game so, you know, there’s consequences for your actions.”
