President Joe Biden declared on Sunday's CBS show “60 Minutes” that the coronavirus pandemic is over.
The virus was first discovered when there was an outbreak of the virus in Wuhan, China, in December of 2019. The virus was discovered in the United States in early 2020 which led some states to close schools and other businesses not required for survival in the spring of 2020. COVID-19 vaccines have been offered in a variety of countries since the end of December, 2020.
Anchor Scott Pelley said, “Mr. President, this is the first Detroit car show in 3 years. Is the pandemic gone?”
Biden stated, “The pandemic is over. There is still a problem with Covid. We're continuing to do an awful amount of work to address the issue. But the pandemic is gone. If you look around, you'll notice that nobody's wearing masks. Everyone appears to be well-groomed. It's changing. I believe this is a great illustration of this.”
