President Joe Biden will name Jeff Zients, who was in charge of the administration's reaction against the Chinese coronavirus outbreak, as his chief of staff, as reported by The Washington Post on Sunday. Zients will take over from Ron Klain who will be leaving the White House within the next few weeks.
Surprisingly, Biden, who has tried to expand “diversity” in his administration has decided to choose Zients as his head of staff, and not pay attention to the other members of his team, including Anita Dunn, a female senior adviser and Susan Rice.
As Breitbart News previously reported, Zients was the spokesperson behind each briefing video on coronavirus and coordinated the White House's response to coronavirus together with Dr. Anthony Fauci and tje Centers for Disease Control Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky.
Furthermore, under Zients, Biden's team was surprised by the appearance of new coronavirus variations, leaving the nation unprepared.
Zients is reported to have been employed in the White House with Klain since the fall of last year, when he helped prepare for staff turnover following the midterm elections, which was a bit sporadic since only a handful of senior staff members have gone.
Zients has been recently assigned various projects by Klain who many have believed to be Zients being coached to be a top-level executive, according to sources who are familiar with the arrangement and talked to the Post.
The Post noted that Zients would take over for Klain as Biden begins to face new challenges in his presidency, such as a Republican-controlled House of Republicans, where GOP members are planning to bombard the president and his administration with multiple investigations, including at least one concerning the business dealing of his son Hunter.
In the past couple of days, Biden has also been confronted by a myriad of controversy and has faced criticism for the improper handling of classified documents. According to reports, between 20 and 25 documents were discovered in Biden's vice-presidential offices in the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington that is located close to Capitol Hill, and other locations like his home in Delaware.
Additionally, according to Breitbart News, Biden has not yet made an official announcement regarding whether he'll run for another term in 2024 even if it is reported that he was near to announcing his plans to be a candidate for reelection following a family vacation.
Prior to becoming part of the Biden administration, Zients also served in the administration of President Obama in a variety of roles. His roles included directorships of the National Economic Council and assistant to the president on economic policy, as well as being a part of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
