Teachers from Chicago's public schools have sexually assaulted, raped, and groomed students.
According to a study released by the Chicago Public Schools' Office of the Inspector General, during the 2021-2022 school year, there were 772 investigations of teachers who were accused of allegations of rape, sexual assault students, or grooming them.
It was possible for the office to close 600 “adult on student” cases over the course of the year and has confirmed more than half the claims. In spite of that, just 16 cases have been prosecuted.
Certain cases involved trips to Las Vegas, Ibiza, London and the Bahamas for sexual reasons.
While the majority of the cases were involving high school students, certain cases included youngsters as young as fourth grade.
One Chicago teacher “groomed and sexually assaulted” a 17-year-old student three different times.
“She began to think of him as her friend and therapist,” according to the student. She said that the teacher “touched and groped the student while hugging her, touching her thighs and buttocks under the pretext of removing lint from her clothing.”
The allegations were confirmed; however, while the teacher was indicted on numerous allegations of sexual assault, the teacher was cleared in November. He is currently fighting his demotion before his employer, the Illinois State Board of Education.
A Junior ROTC staffer reportedly had sexual relations with a girl between 16-17 years old and would offer her drinks. He also demanded that she purchase marijuana from fellow students.
Certain messages from the employee and student were sexually explicit and said things such as “I'm ready to f*** right now … I'm not gonna be gentle either.” The employee “threatened to kill the student and her family” in the event that she spoke to anyone about the relationship.
Another incident was when a teacher asked “a fourth grade student” why their lips had chapped and later stated that her lips were chapped due to her “sucking d***. ‘”
One gym instructor exposed himself to a sophomore girl and then sent a 15-year-old girl “photos and videos of himself masturbating and engaged in other sexual acts.”
A teacher from the elementary school “sexually touched” a male student for many years, from 11-14 years old. The educator “spent the night in the student's bedroom, having sex with the student.”
In a report, Breitbart News reported that the Biden administration tried to end the reporting requirements of the Trump era for teachers who assault students. This plan would have had just the 16 cases with criminal charges added to the national statistics, and not the entire 772.
It could have made it easier for schools in the future to carry on “passing the trash — relocating predator teachers without disclosing their conduct to the new district,” according to the former secretary of education Betsy DeVos.
