Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) said on MSNBC's “The ReidOut” that his Republican colleagues in the House are “coming down on the side of” the perpetrators of the murder of our children by refusing to support the Democrats' “gun reform” bill.

Anchor Joy Reid said, “We were able to witness on the House Judiciary Committee holding a controversial debate over a bundle of gun legislation that is being introduced. The Protecting Our Kids Act raises the age of firearms as well as attempts to regulate big-capacity magazines.”

Swalwell, in reference to the responses of his Republican colleagues during the meeting to his questions, asserted, “They do not have an answer as to who they're attending to serve. I asked whether you're there for the children, if don't want to push the age of 21 for purchasing an assault weapon and you don't want to be a victim of the Safe Storage Act, if you're not a believer in the pursuit of ghost guns, and you don't support the ban on high capacity magazines, you're putting yourself on the side of a murderer. Only those who kill our children benefit from laws being stopped in this way. Instead, they target mental health. They claim it's a family-related issue. They argue that this is because of schools being targets for softness. However, when we introduce legislation to tackle mental health issues as well as provide food to families, educate families, provide jobs for families, and when we attempt to fund schools and schools, they reject it. It's like an elaborate carnival game, and they're trying to ensure that we're a nation with unlimited weapons.”
