Democrats are taking aim at Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) for his decision to send three buses of migrants to the Vice President's residence in Washington, DC, on Christmas Eve, in frigid temperatures.
According to reports, Abbott's Division of Emergency Management sent three buses stuffed with border-crossers to Harris's D.C. residence, the Naval Observatory. The peak temperature for Christmas Eve was only 22 degrees.
After the 130 or so border-crossers arrived at Harris's residence, they were transported by an aid organization to a nearby church.
In response, Democrats such as Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) said that Abbott was “worthless” and a “POS,” the acronym for the phrase “piece of s***,” while Democrat activist Scott Dworkin wrote in a blog that Abbott “belongs in prison” for busing the migrants.
The left-of-center Occupy Democrats group posted on Twitter that the administration of President Joe Biden should launch a criminal probe into Abbott's migrant buses.
In the meantime, Reps. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and Ritchie Torres (D-NY) seemingly doubted Abbott's Christian convictions. Torres went so far as to claim that transporting migrants to sanctuary states should be illegal.
For the past few months, Texas has bused thousands of border-crossers to sanctuary cities such as Washington, DC; New York City, New York; Chicago, Illinois; and Denver, Colorado. Abbott has suggested that by doing this, he is saving Texas taxpayers billions of dollars in costs associated with illegal immigration by shifting that burden onto other states that have sanctuary policies.
