House and Senate Democrats are calling on Biden to allow American taxpayer-funded Obamacare enrollment to hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants who are enrolled within the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
In an open letter that was signed by 85 House and Senate Democrats, the lawmakers pleaded with Biden's Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to repeal the federal regulations which would allow Obamacare to be open to DACA illegal immigrants — which is funded through American taxpayers.
“We strongly encourage HHS to honor our country's promise of full integration and support of DACA recipients, including access to affordable health care through [Obamacare] by rescinding this regulation,” the Democrats submitted.
“It is essential that the administration maintain its pledge to increase the coverage of immigrants who are not legally documented as well as DACA recipients. Repealing this harmful rule can help fulfill the promises made.”
As reported by the Democrats, Biden did promise to extend taxpayer-funded health insurance benefits to illegal immigrants who reside within the United States while on the campaign trail in 2020.
Particularly, in his “Unity” platform with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), Biden vowed to allow millions of illegal immigrants who are eligible and already enrolled in DACA to be enrolled in Obamacare plans.
The platform also stated that it will permit all between 11 and 22 million illegal aliens within the U.S. to purchase healthcare insurance through the federal marketplace, and to more rapidly allow legal immigrants with low incomes to join Medicaid.
As Breitbart News stated in the past, providing health insurance to illegal aliens living within the U.S. would cost American taxpayers anything from $23 billion to $66 billion per year — which could mean upwards of $660 billion for taxpayers every ten years.
As of now, American taxpayers are forced to pay $18.5 billion of medical expenses for illegal immigrants each year, according to estimates from Chris Conover, formerly of the Center for Health Policy and Inequalities Research at Duke University.
In addition to soliciting Biden to extend Obamacare to DACA illegal immigrants, House and Senate Democrats are currently urging 10 Senate Republicans to join them in approving an amnesty program for around 3.3 million illegal immigrants.
In the context of the amnesty program, Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX), Mike Lee (R-UT), Mike Rounds (R-SD), and Pat Toomey (R-PA) reportedly met with DACA illegal immigrants last week.
