Driver Speeding Through Intersection in LA Caused Fiery Crash, Death of Five People, Including Pregnant Woman

As per reports, five people died and eight were hospitalized following a fiery crash that took place in Los Angeles on Thursday afternoon.

Seven to six vehicles were involved in the accident and three of them caught on fire. The incident occurred in the area between South La Brea Avenue and Slauson Avenue, located in the Windsor Hills neighborhood of West Los Angeles at 12:30 p.m., KTTV-TV reported.

The crash and the fire that immediately followed killed a pregnant woman, her unborn baby, an infant, and two adults.

Officials believe that a Mercedes-Benz that was traveling at a fast speed and ran a red light caused the crash.

Two vehicles were visible at the scene, with one split in half that appears to have crashed into a pole.

Eight patients were taken to the hospital and the extent of their injuries is not yet known.

“It almost looks like a war zone,” a California Highway Patrol (CHP) declared to reporters at the scene.

The CHP reports that the driver of the Mercedes was severely injured in the crash.

Charges will likely be filed at the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office.

Chris Cristi, a helicopter reporter for KABC-TV posted a video that shows the Mercedes bursting into flames as it drove into the intersection.

Los Angeles Police Department didn't immediately respond to inquiries.
