House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) predicted Sunday on NBC's “Meet the Press” that the Republican-controlled House will implement an “extreme MAGA agenda,” which he believes will undermine the well-being of the American people.
Jeffries stated, “Our general concern is the historic dysfunction which we witnessed this week isn't over, it's only the beginning. Even though Congress was held captive this week, what's going to be a major issue is when the American citizens are kept captive over the coming two years by an extreme MAGA Republican agenda that was negotiated into House regulations and working of Congress. This will affect the health, safety, and security of the American citizens. It could undermine our national security and an effective defense, and hamper our ability to push an agenda based on discussions at the table rather than extremism.'
He continued, “Our concern right now is to get things done for the everyday Americans and working on the problem that's right before us. It is essential that we provide a budget that invests in economic opportunities and also invests in the health and safety of the American citizens, ensuring that we don't fall behind on our debts at the very first instance in American history. We must ensure that we authorize important agencies such as the FAA so that we can improve aviation travel in the United States. This is the issue we'll be focusing upon as Democrats.”
