Hollywood Celebrities: Leonardo DiCaprio and Jane Fonda, Mark Ruffalo Oppose Canadian Natural Gas Pipeline, as Energy Prices Soar

They are demanding that the pipeline be defunded at a time when energy prices are rising around the globe, which is putting pressure on working-class families and creating a negative ripple effect in the global economy. The Coastal GasLink is the main focus of the battle. It transports natural gas from British Columbia's Rockies to the Pacific coast.

Celebrities are pressuring Los Angeles City National Bank. They cite the Royal Bank of Canada as the bank’s parent company.

They wrote an open-letter to City National, RBC. “We refuse to permit our industry's bank to be unethical at all levels, to accelerate the climate crisis or to facilitate the abuse of Indigenous Peoples' rights.”

They claim that the pipeline is in violation of the waters and territory of the Wet'suwet'en Peoples.

Other Hollywood signatories include: Joaquin Phoenix, Robert Downey, Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Ben Stiller, David Fincher, Ava DuVernay, Amy Schumer, and Scarlett Johansson.

Left-wing celebrities have made fossil fuel pipelines their favorite target. They successfully pressured President Joe Biden last year to close the Keystone XL Pipeline on his first day of office, which effectively killed thousands of jobs.

They also demand the destruction of Dakota Access and Enbridge Line 3, as well as the replacement of these pipelines.

Pipelines are one of the most cost-effective and efficient ways to transport fossil fuels. No pipelines would mean that oil and natural gas are transported by trucks. This makes them more costly for consumers.

Jennifer Granholm , secretary of energy in the Biden administration, has admitted that pipelines are the best way to transport fuel throughout the country.
