Is Rep. Stefanik a Likely Pick for Trump’s Running Mate in 2024–If He Runs?

Former President Donald Trump has not yet announced whether he'll run for president in 2024. There is a consensus that Trump will announce his decision following the midterm elections in 2022. According to sources in his inner circle, one name likely to be fielded as his vice-presidential candidate is Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY).

CNN has been told numerous times by reliable sources that they have heard that Stefanik is interested in joining the Trump campaign and that “conversations regarding including Stefanik in a future Trump ticket” have taken place. CNN has stated that Trump is “interviewing close friends and allies about their views on Stefanik. One of the numerous Republican women he could be interested in is for the possibility of becoming the VP. But, he hasn't completely eliminated any male contenders.”

One Trump advisor stated, “Trump is fond of Elise Stefanik. There's a portion of Trump who believes he should have a female Vice President. Trump is definitely a fan of her, possibly due to her eloquent and adoring nature to Trump.”

Stefanik's organization is currently refusing to entertain any plans to join a large political campaign. Alex DeGrasse, a senior advisor to Stefanik, has stated that Congresswoman Stefanik is completely committed to serving the city of New York's 21st Congressional District. She also serves as the House Republican conference chair and the leader of the campaign to win Congress in 2022 in order to remove House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from her seat.

Trump, who was raised in New York and lived there most of his life, relocated to Florida in 2019. Is Stefanik capable of managing the race adequately? Trump has plenty of possibilities and plenty of time to think about it.
