“Today, in preparation for travel to Europe, I took a PCR test this morning. That test came back positive, which means I will be adhering to CDC guidance and no longer be traveling on the President's trip to Europe,” Psaki declared in a press release made public prior to his White House press briefing.
She won't accompany the president to Europe on Wednesday.
Psaki disclosed that she had a meeting with Biden two times on Tuesday, however she claimed Biden and her had been “socially-distanced” and both occasions weren't thought of as “close contact” by the Centers for Disease Control.
She also said she was pleased that Biden had a coronavirus test that was negative on Tuesday.
The press secretary is fully vaccinated and has had booster shots.
Psaki announced that she would work at home for five consecutive days before returning to the spot on White House.
“Thanks to the vaccine, I have only experienced mild symptoms,” she added.
The Deputy White House Press Secretary Chris Meagher took charge of the role at the White House press briefing on Tuesday, with the National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, instead of Psaki.
Psaki also was positive for the disease in October just four months and three weeks prior to traveling to Europe during Biden's visit to Italy to attend an event called the G-20 summit.
