Joe Biden, 80, Jokingly Asks Reporters if They Believe He Requires His Upcoming Physical Exam

President Joe Biden made fun of reporters on Thursday after they posed questions about his upcoming physical examination.

“Do you think I need it?” the president, who recently turned 80, asked with a smile.

The president addressed his physical condition after a meeting with firefighters during his long Thanksgiving break on Nantucket Island. He stated that he had already passed a portion of his physical examination and will get the rest of it completed before year's end.

The president's doctor, Dr. Kevin O'Connor, explained Biden's frequent coughing and “perceptibly stiffer and less fluid walk” after he conducted a full physical last year.

The president's physical condition is likely to be a topic during discussions that he's likely to hold with his family members over the Christmas and Thanksgiving holiday season, particularly about his running for reelection in 2024 despite concerns regarding his age.

Biden continues to defy critics of his advancing age by saying “watch me” as he carries on with his presidency. “I no more think of myself as being as old as I am than fly,” Biden told 60 Minutes in September.

More than two-thirds of Americans during the midterm exit polls indicated that they would prefer Biden not run for reelection.
