Former President Barack Obama observed the Senate vote confirming Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s appointment to the Supreme Court live on C-SPAN in the White House, accompanied by Judge Jackson. Vice-President Kamala Harris presided over the vote.

White House photographers were allowed inside the room to commemorate the momentous occasion of the first woman of color to be admitted to the Supreme Court.

There was no indication that President Joe Biden or Jackson were wearing masks, even though the president had spent time on both Tuesday and Wednesday with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who has since tested positive for the coronavirus.

The first lady, Jill Biden, however, posted a picture of herself wearing a mask on social media.
