On stage following the Supreme Court striking down Roe v. Wade, Mayor Lori Lightfoot responded to someone who was in the parade's crowd: “F*** Clarence Thomas!”
It's not clear who or the exact manner in which Lightfoot was responding to; however, the mayor was speaking concerning the Supreme Court's ruling regarding abortion.
“So it is clear what took place at the Supreme Court yesterday. If you've read Clarence Thomas' concurrence, it explains…” Lightfoot spoke after responding to a person who was in the audience. “Thank you. F*** Clarence Thomas!”
“He thinks that we are going to stand idly by while they take our rights: our right to marry, our right to have children, our right to live!” Lightfoot added.
This isn't the first time that Lightfoot has employed language in a degrading manner. Following the Supreme Court leak of the draft Dobbs decision in May, the Democrat mayor made a post on Twitter to urge”the LGBTQ+ community” to take up arms.
“To my friends from those in LGBTQ+ community–the Supreme Court is coming for us in the near future. This is an appeal to arms,” she said.
The call to arms by Lightfoot came before at least 23 pro-life groups were vandalized across the country, according reports from Catholic Vote.
