Pompeo Calls Biden’s Armageddon Comments Foolish

Former secretary of state Mike Pompeo said on this week's edition of “Fox News Sunday” that President Joe Biden's warnings of the coming Armageddon era in response to threats of nuclear war emanating from Russia were “reckless.”

At a fundraising event last week, Biden said, “We have not faced the prospect of armageddon since Kennedy and the Cuban Missile Crisis.”

When asked about Russian president Vladimir Putin, Biden added, “I know fairly well. Putin isn't laughing when he discusses the possibility of use of nuclear weapons in tactical fashion.”

Pompeo declared, “First of all, the comments were reckless. In addition they highlight one of the most significant foreign policy mistakes in recent years and that was the failure to dissuade Vladimir Putin in a similar fashion to what the Trump administration had done for the past four years.”

He added, “When you hear the president speaking about Armageddon as a random thought at a fundraiser it is a huge risk for the American people. He should be speaking about it with a serious tone.”

Pompeo said, “More importantly, he should be taking the steps that will deter Vladimir Putin. We've been here since October of '62, and other times and America has resisted by demonstrating a tremendous determination and executing diplomacy the same way as we did when we were in office, and pointing out to Vladimir Putin the costs that using nuclear weapons will bring the strength that is all the United States and Europe and the entire world against Vladimir Putin. I'm sure they're acting in a quiet manner.”
