Zeldin will be the “best choice” to win and lead against a Democratic-controlled legislature, the New York Post stated.

    The Post wrote:

The state, for the first time in a long while, has the chance of an actual Republican governor, as well as a stable crop of GOP candidates.

The main question we've addressed is who is the best candidate to win the election, but also one with the ability and the determination to lead the revolution in the face of shouts of protest from a likely Democratic-controlled Legislature.

The Post‘s endorsement for Zeldin is less than two weeks ahead of the primary on June 28, and just a few weeks before the early vote officially begins on Saturday.

“Honored that @NYPost recently supported my candidacy to be NY Governor during the upcoming July 28th GOP primary. All in! The option of losing is not an option,” Zeldin tweeted after the Post announced its endorsement.

The Post praised Zeldin for his efforts in Congress to approve the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 into law. The publication also reported that Zeldin swept aside incumbent Democrats twice during his 10-year political career. First, in 2012 when he defeated an incumbent Democrat to win an open State Senate seat. The next in 2014 when he became a member of the U.S. House of Representatives.

The Post noted that Zeldin will reverse Democrat-pushed criminal justice reforms and take away district attorneys such as those funded by Soros, such as Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg “who refuses to enforce the law.”

The newspaper highlighted his economic plans, which included the state's tax cuts, removing unnecessary regulations, as well as reversing the state's ban on fracking.

The Post also pointed out his displeasure with “woke indoctrination” in New York public schools as well as his commitment to promote civic education in the classroom in the form of an endorsement.

The Post asked members of the members of the state Republican Party to unite around the eventual winner of the primary and encouraged “every Republican, independent, or Democrat who is sick of the state of this state” to support Zeldin for the chance to “bring back prosperity, pride, and sanity to Albany and the people of the Empire State.”

Zeldin has a clear lead over his opponents on the ballot in New York’s GOP governor's primary according to an opinion poll that was conducted recently.
