Trump Will Not Participate in Special Counsel Investigation

The former president Donald Trump blasted Attorney General Merrick Garland's decision to name the special counsel to probe the president and said on Fox News that he is “not going to partake” in the probe.

On Friday, Garland appointed John L. Smith as special counsel to probe Trump. Smith will examine the handling by Trump of classified documents, which the FBI confiscated during a search at Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence in the month of August. He will also decide if there is a need for criminal prosecutions to be filed against the former president.

Trump has criticized the appointment of the special counsel in the context of “the worst politicization of justice in our country” in an interview with Fox News Digital on Friday.

Trump stated that the current probe comes following the two “fake impeachments” and former special counsel Robert Muller finding no evidence of criminal cooperation or conspiracy with both the Trump team and Russian officials in the 2016 presidential elections.

“I have been going through this for six years — for six years I have been going through this, and I am not going to go through it anymore,” Trump stated. “And I hope the Republicans have the courage to fight this.”

“I have been found innocent for six years in everything from false impeachments to Mueller who was able to find no collusion. Now I'm forced to investigate further? This is unacceptable. It's just unfair. It's all political.” Trump said.

“I am not going to partake in it,” Trump declared.

Trump has also noted that Garland's appointment as the special counsel came only days after he announced his 2024 presidential candidacy.

“I have never heard of such a thing. They did not find anything. I make an announcement and then they nominate the special prosecutor. They did not find anything and they now appoint someone who is hateful of Trump,” Trump said. “This is a disgrace and only happening because I am leading in every poll in both parties.”

“It is not even possible for them to be allowed to do this. This is the most extreme politicization of justice in our nation,” Trump continued.

Trump has also criticized Biden's Department of Justice (DOJ) for pursuing him, while remaining in the dark about the numerous scandals concerning Biden and his son. Hunter.

“Hunter Biden is a criminal many times over and nothing happens to him,” Trump stated on Fox News. “Joe Biden is a criminal many times over — and nothing happens to them.”

Trump demanded members of the GOP “stand up and fight” against the DOJ's appointment of a special counsel.
